Temple of Night and Fire

So I had two entries into the Landmark of Landmark contest.  You could have up to three.  I don't think I can get a third built in a night.  Anyway, this second entry was rather simple and easy to build and it was pretty so I thought I'd put it in the contest too.

Here's some pictures.  Everyone likes pictures.

The Temple is located right next to Copper Top Palace.  And of course it's themed fairly the same except that I used obsidian instead of copper.  I've been DYING to play with obsidian and my claim just happens to be surrounded by obsidian veins.

Views of the Temple from several different angles.

View from Copper Top Palace.

Instead the Temple you'll find a nice little peaceful place, a nice little pool and four gravestones.

The Temple of Night and Fire at night.  (That tiny figure on the right is my friend Thrist.)

Copper Top Palace

So here's my Landmark of Landmark contest entry #1.  Copper Top Palace is named for...yup the copper all over it.  I almost did this all up in copper, but it didn't look good.  As is it took a ton of copper and stone.  I can't imagine how much copper it would have needed all on it's own!

First thing's first.  Here's a map.  Remember what I said!  Follow the red line EXACTLY how it shows!  make sure you harvesting EVERYTHING on the way there.  Clear out all those trees!

Serenity - Lavatube (-623.60, 1086.60, -1210.00)  Northwest-ish of the spires.

So this thing is MASSIVE!  The one I did in Alpha was a nice sized castle because most of it was underground.  But this thing turns out HUGE.  I actually had another floor on the bottom but I took it out.

I had some trouble trying to figure out the stairs with the 50 voxel base requirement  so I asked my spouse for a little bit of help.  He played in Alpha and really didn't do much because of school and work.  But he's out for the semester so he was able to lend a hand.  He ended up fixing a couple of things and adding stuff without me asking.  Woosh!

Upper, Atrium Level.  Originally there was going to be a 5th tower in the middle that connected all the others, but I decided to do something simpler to hopefully make the Palace seem a bit less massive.  I don't think it worked but I like this better.

Very top of the tower which I think is really cool.

And it's got a nice view.

So after you go up the stairs there's another set of stairs that lead down.  You go down there and there's a huge room.  Here's some stuff that's in it.  I didn't take a shot of the whole room.  There's plently of more pictures to look at below.

First we have the giant flower planter.  There's a lot more smaller ones throughout the Palace.  I my friend Thrist fill them with flowers.  She's not comfortable building but LOVES harvesting and I wanted her to get some credit on the Landmark competition.  I hope adding props works.

This would probably look better done in micro-voxels or anti-voxels and such.  I could have put handles on the cabinets.  But I didn't.  I used regular old voxels.  It's Ikea furniture.

So this is my Kitchen-bar.

There's a sink with 'water' (cobalt) too.

More Ikea furniture!  Yes all built in just plain old voxels.  The coffee table was originally built in Alpha.  Of course when I placed it the only bit that actually showed was the middle bit.  It was ruby back then.  So I had to rebuild it.  Which wasn't hard to do.

The palace has many secrets...make sure you look for things out of place.  You might just find something.

Naptime yet?

Whoever lives here also paints stained glass windows.

So here's some stairs.  You go up these and turn.  You'll find a door with some more stairs and a door that goes to another room!

The spouse decided we needed a chessboard.  We did not make chess pieces as the board is meant for players to be the pieces.

So after going up even more stairs you'll finally make it to the Atrium.

Ikea bench.

Hmm...

Let's see if you can find this!

That's all you get.  Ryder out!  Goodbye!

The First Lawn To Rule Them All

So ever since Beta started I've been trying to build something.  Anything as long as it was something I actually finished!  I built some things in Alpha, but I never finished them.  I got bored and moved on to the next thing.  I never had enough time or enough materials.  I didn't have the highest level pick to harvest the materials that I needed in order to build in something other than dirt.  It was fun for awhile, but the constant need to farm drove me away.

When Beta started I cracked down and started harvesting...after two weeks into beta where I did nothing at all.  Anyway, I got my mithril pick.  I got my rubicite axe and then I started building.  I decided to build in Ice and Stuccoed wall.  And I just started building and building and...I still have no idea WTF it's supposed to be.

I didn't take screenshots yet.  But if you want to see it, it's over on Serenity server in Channel.  Here's a map.  Make sure you follow the red line EXACTLY how it appears.  Oh and stop every half a minute to harvest something.  Don't forget to clear all the trees on the way there and back.

I would offer you the use of my crafting equipment but I moved them so you're SOL!  Sorry.

So anyway, there's this contest that just ended.  Yeah sorry you only have the next 24 hours to submit something.  You want news go to the Official Landmark Forums not to me!  Sheesh.  So yeah this contest.  I wasn't going to enter because I figured I wouldn't have time to do anything but farm materials.  But I found this spot over in Lavatube and we could have a second Main Claim now so...I took the spot.  It's a good spot.  No you can't have it.  It's mine.  MINE!

I started rebuilding my castle from Alpha and I actually finished it a few days ago so I submitted it!  Along with another claim that I randomly did up.  That one was simple and easy so it didn't take long at all.  The castle took forever.

I think I'll build a shack next and put it way high on a mountain where no one can get to it unless you're awesome with a grappling hook.

I'm not gonna show you screenshots here.  You'll have to wait for the next post.

Ryder out!  Goodbye!

Introduction

So first thing's first.  Who am I?  I'm Ryder and I'm just your average gamer.  That's all you really need to know.  If you wanna know more you might check out my Everquest Landmark Alpha Blog Introduction.  But it's okay if you don't.  It's long and wordy and tells you far too much about me, probably more than you want to know.

Anyway, I'm currently in the Everquest Landmark Beta and obviously this blog is about that.  Mostly it's about my lawns.  Not my real lawn but the things I build in Landmark.  I like to call them my lawns because they collect things like lawns do...lawn gnomes, stacks of tires, that old Camaro(I once had a 1982 red Camaro with a horrible spray paint job that I didn't do.  The speedometer also didn't work.  I never got a ticket.) with no tires even though there's a stack of the on the lawn you just can't be bothered to put them on the car so instead you use giant blocks.

But enough about my lawn.  You're here because you wanna see what I built!  Or you're bored.  Or you have no idea why you're here.  Either way you want me to stop talking and start showing pictures.  So I'll do that.  In the next post.

Ryder out!  Goodbye!
